Things to do

You can be as lazy or as active in Sunriver as you want – we’ve tested both options thoroughly.  In addition to biking, swimming, golf and tennis, here’s a list of other things to do:

Bikes, horses and boats

  • Biking happy hour! Begin at Hola, then head to the patio at the lodge, finishing at El Caporal, Village Bar and Grill, or the Sunriver Brewhouse in the village.
  • Mountain Jug (located in business park) is a great place to hang out listen to vinyl and get local beers. This is also where you can fill growlers to take home.
  • Bike the “big loop.” This isn’t a formal Sunriver trail, but if you bring a map it’s easy to do a big circle of the resort staying on the outer edge. Lots of wildlife and good scenery – about 14 miles round trip.
  • Bike the new Sun-Lava path that connects Sunriver to the Lava Lands visitor center – about 25 miles round trip from the condo. There’s 1-2 mile uphill section as you approach the Lava Lands center, which makes for a great ride home!
  • Bike or drive to the stables to visit the horses. In the summer, there are TONS of prairie dogs in the fields. Also a good chance you’ll see coyotes if you go in the late afternoon.
  • Head out to the marina for various summertime activities including 3 hour float trips down the river.  (Tube and raft rentals are cheapest at Good to Go in the village.)

Other fun things in Sunriver

  • Wander through the Sunriver Village for shopping, snacking or planned events
  • Visit the bounce house and giant slide in the village
  • Swim or sled (year round!) at the SHARC
  • Check out the stars at the Sunriver Observatory.  One of the best in the country!
  • Play 9 holes of mini golf on real greens at the lodge
  • Play classic mini golf and ride bumper cars at the skating pavilion in the village.
  • Go ice skating in the village (winter)
  • Play bocce ball on the back lawn, at the Besson Commons courts by the lodge or up at Fort Rock Park (balls in the front closet)
  • Nap (year round)

Nearby

  • Hit the links at one of the countless number of golf courses around the Sunriver/Bend/LaPine area
  • Head up to Mt. Bachelor for skiing, snowboarding, dogsledding, hiking, ziplining, mountain biking or frisbee golf
  • Ride the Mt. Bachelor chairlift up to the Pine Marten Lodge for views, happy hour and/or dinner (summer).
  • Hike! There are endless hiking trails nearby. A few favorites: Todd Lake (easy, great for kids and aging pets), Sparks Lake (easy to moderate trails), Tumalo Mountain (moderate to tough with amazing mountain views at the top)  Don’t forget to bring a day pass for the parking lot, available at the Sunriver Country Store.
  • Visit Twin Lakes Resort – this rustic little resort is great for breakfast and a short, flat hike around the lake.  Boats and fishing supplies available for rent at the dock.
  • Bend has a pretty great brewpub scene. Our current favorite is Crux, especially when the weather is nice enough to sit outside.
